One person was displaced after a fire at an apartment building in Amarillo on Thursday. Amarillo Fire Department crews responded around 5:30 p.m. to the building at Line Avenue near South Bowie Street.

When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from a window and the front door of a unit. Firefighters began an aggressive fire attack while other crews set up a water supply, checked for fire spread and searched the building. The American Red Cross was notified to help the displaced resident.

The fire caused major damage to the apartment where it started, moderate damage to the adjacent unit and minor damage to a third unit in the building. The Amarillo Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause.
