Rain developed more slowly than forecast overnight, leaving totals lower so far across the region, according to KCBD. Showers are expected to spread from south to north through Friday morning.

The National Weather Service removed several counties in the northwestern South Plains from the Flood Watch because those areas received less rain than expected. The watch remains in effect for other parts of the region. Forecasters expect an additional 0.50 to 1.00 inches of rain through Friday.

Showers and a few thunderstorms are forecast through much of Friday, with heavy rain possible in southern parts of the South Plains and Rolling Plains during the morning. Locally heavy rain could cause street flooding. Rain is expected to taper off from west to east Friday evening into early Saturday. Highs are forecast in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees.
