Two restaurant concepts from Dallas are planned for the former Nix medical complex in Alamo Heights, according to state records. Hudson House, a New York-style oyster bar, and Jack & Harry's, a New Orleans-inspired chop house, are both expected to begin serving next year, according to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Both are owned by Vandelay Companies, a North Texas hospitality and real estate firm.

The building at 5307 Broadway has been vacant since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Hudson House operates nearly a dozen locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Houston, and its menu includes oysters, sushi and entrees such as pan-seared redfish and steak frites. Jack & Harry's, which has one Dallas location, focuses on prime and dry-aged steaks and offers Southern and coastal dishes such as gumbo and broiled oysters. Both restaurants have full bars.

Vandelay officials were not available for immediate comment. A map on the company's website shows Alamo Heights locations for both restaurants in the works. According to state filings, remodeling of the 6,500-square-foot Hudson House space is set to start next month, with an anticipated finish date of April 30 of next year, at a cost of nearly $1.7 million. Work on the 6,100-square-foot Jack & Harry's space is expected to begin at the start of January, with a July 30 completion date and renovation costs estimated at $2.5 million.
