Lubbock High is looking for its third consecutive win tonight against the first-place Amarillo Sandies. The game will stream on KCBD.com, the End Zone App and the Streaming App.
The Westerners' winning streak started two weeks ago, when they came back from a 28-point deficit to beat Caprock 42-28 on "Thursday Night Throwdown." Last week they beat Frenship Memorial 45-31. Running back Nathan Johnson had 23 carries for 233 yards and two touchdowns in the Frenship game.
Amarillo has a 7-1 record after wins over Tascosa, Abilene and Frenship. Its lead rusher, Sy Richardson, averages 101.9 yards per game, according to the report.
Lubbock High head coach Juan Rodriguez said Amarillo is balanced and physical and may run the ball often but could also throw. He said the Westerners are prepared for both and must stop the run while also being ready for the pass.
