Chilifest, Inc. confirmed that its two-day music festival will take place Friday and Saturday, April 16-17, 2027, in Snook. The nonprofit said the lineup and other details will be released "in the coming weeks."
The 2026 festival was canceled halfway through because of heavy mud after storms, and another storm followed shortly after. In July, Chilifest sued former president Dalton Stripling. The lawsuit accuses him of draining nearly $900,000 from the nonprofit's bank account over two years to pay for personal expenses. Stripling filed a general denial rejecting the allegations. His attorney said in July that the full set of facts "will paint a picture different than what has been alleged." A bench trial is set for February.
Chilifest said its finances are overseen by officers who report to its board of directors, along with an outside CPA firm that handles accounting and tax compliance. The group said it is working to bring its federal filings current and to seek reinstatement of its tax-exempt status, which it expects to be complete "in the very near future." KBTX previously reported the status was revoked in August. Chilifest declined to comment further on the lawsuit beyond what is in public court filings.
