Brownwood Independent School District (BISD) will hold campus evacuation drills at every campus in the district from Monday, Nov. 2, through Friday, Nov. 6, 2026. The district said the drills are meant to practice emergency response plans and protocols.
During a drill, students will be escorted along a set evacuation route to a pre-determined site and then taken back to their school. The district said staff in safety vests and some emergency vehicles may be seen in neighborhoods and near campuses. Afternoon pick-up and transportation will not be affected.
BISD also plans campus walkthroughs with first responders on Nov. 16-18, when emergency vehicles may be parked at campuses. The district said it runs a variety of state-mandated emergency drills throughout the school year.
