United Way of Rusk County held its 14th annual Taste of Rusk County on Oct. 29 at the Rusk County Youth Expo Center. The organization said the event was sold out. The two-hour fundraiser brought together local food providers, businesses and service organizations.

The Brooze Brothers played live music. Food providers offered sample-sized servings, including wings, enchiladas, country-fried pork, vegetable soup, chicken spaghetti and chicken and dressing. Participating food providers included Don Felix, Herschel's, Pine Lodge Assisted Living, Wingstop, Cotton Patch, UT Health East Texas and Simply Southern Catering.

Local organizations also had booths with information and giveaways. Guests could meet representatives of groups that work on local needs, children and families, and connecting residents with services. Among them were the Boys & Girls Club of Rusk County, Rusk County 4-H and the Rusk County Child Welfare Board. Booths also offered the annual Agency BINGO game.
