Monday's forecast calls for a warm and breezy start to the week across the Permian Basin. Highs are expected to reach the 70s and 80s, with Midland and Odessa near 80 degrees. Winds of 15 to 35 miles per hour are expected, with higher gusts possible. Skies are forecast to be partly cloudy.
Most of the region is expected to stay dry. Far eastern parts of the region have a chance of thunderstorms, and a marginal, level 1 of 5 severe weather risk was in place Monday morning. Forecasters said any storms could bring strong, damaging winds and large hail. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. MST (6 p.m. CST), and a High Wind Warning covers the Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains until 8 p.m. MST (9 p.m. CST). Drivers of high-profile vehicles may find driving difficult.
Overnight lows Tuesday are forecast to fall into the 40s and 50s under mostly clear skies. Forecasters said temperatures will rise and fall through the week as several cold fronts pass. A cold front is expected Monday, and another is expected Thursday, with cooler weather forecast for the end of the week and the weekend. Slight storm chances may return for the weekend.
