College Station police arrested Peyton Curtis Groeschel, 21, on Saturday afternoon. Police said he pointed a firearm at another driver during a road rage encounter on Highway 6. He was booked into the Brazos County Detention Center on charges of deadly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia and falsification of a drug test device.

According to a probable cause statement, officers were sent around 1 p.m. Saturday to northbound Highway 6 after a driver called 911. The driver said someone in a black Chevrolet Silverado had pointed a gun at him. Officers stopped the truck near Harvey Mitchell Parkway South. Police said Groeschel was driving and detained him along with a passenger.

The other driver told investigators that he passed the truck and made a hand gesture. He said he saw the rear window open and the driver point a black object at him, and he believed it was a gun. Groeschel told police he opened the window and made a hand gesture but denied touching or displaying a weapon. His passenger told police Groeschel reached into the backseat during the encounter, saying he was reaching for French fries.

Police said officers found a rifle on the floorboard of the truck. They also found a marijuana grinder and an unopened synthetic urine kit in the center console. Police said Groeschel admitted the grinder was his and said he bought the urine kit from a local smoke shop to use for an employment drug screening.
