Proceedings in a Tyler murder case are on hold until a Dec. 14 status hearing, when a trial date is expected to be set. Judge Taylor Heaton spoke at a status hearing Tuesday and said he would like the trial to be held in March, but no official date has been set.

Jorian Raklyn Nashun Jackson, 29, of Plano, is accused of fatally shooting Cheyenne Russell, 26, of Nacogdoches, on Jan. 6 at an apartment complex in Tyler. According to an arrest affidavit, Russell's roommate found her body on a couch with gunshot wounds after returning home from work. The affidavit said Russell's two children were in the apartment during the shooting, and the older child told the roommate that Jackson had been fighting with Russell.

Police arrested Jackson on Jan. 22 at his grandparents' home in Tyler after a two-week search. He remains in the Smith County Jail on a $1 million bond. His grandparents, Carolyn Johnson, 75, and Willie Johnson, 75, were also arrested. They face indictment on charges of hindering apprehension.
