Forecasters have issued a First Alert Weather Day for East Texas on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3. They said heavy rain and isolated strong storms are possible as a cold front moves east through the area. Storms could bring wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph and small hail. Forecasters said the tornado threat is very low.

Rain is expected to move into the western counties in the mid to late morning and into the eastern and Deep East Texas counties by early afternoon. Forecasters said it will not be an all-day rain event, so voters should cast ballots once storms pass their area. Lighter rain behind the front is expected to taper off in the afternoon.

Forecasters said skies should stay dry Tuesday night into Wednesday, with cooler, drier air and highs in the lower to middle 70s. Another cold front is expected late Thursday into early Friday, bringing little rain and more cool air.
