The Mexia Garden Club presented Gibbs Memorial Library in Mexia with its Civic Pride Award, according to the club's announcement.
The club said it has maintained the library's gardens for several years. Plantings include white, yellow and multicolored lantana, purple salvia, lilies and knock out roses. Crepe myrtles planted by club members years ago are still growing, and the bird bath holds assorted succulents. The club also said many club organizations meet in the library's meeting room.
The club said the library had a fire some years back and that Shien Dee Pullman and library employees spent many hours rebuilding it. Photos with the announcement show Catherine Webster, Tesiah Sours, Sam McKeever, Shien Dee Pullman and Patty Manley.
