The CBS7 forecast for Sunday, November 1, calls for a slightly warmer and breezy day across the Permian Basin, with most areas reaching the 70s and wind gusts up to 30-plus mph. Skies are expected to be partly to mostly cloudy. A few isolated storms, some strong, may form in southeast New Mexico late Sunday evening, with gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail possible. Forecasters rated the severe threat as very low, level 1 of 5, and said most of the Permian Basin should stay rain-free.

Monday is expected to be windy across West Texas, with gusts of 30 to 40-plus mph. A cold front is forecast to move through the region at midday. It could bring a slight chance of one or two strong-to-severe storms, mainly in the far eastern Permian Basin. Otherwise, forecasters expect more sunshine and highs in the upper 70s.

The forecast says the rest of the week will be cooler and drier behind the cold front, with highs mostly in the upper 60s and lower 70s and plenty of sunshine. Another weather system could arrive by next weekend.
