Forecasters said an active Pacific jet stream will keep clouds and some rain chances across Southeast Texas through Halloween. Houston received its first rain in 12 days on Tuesday morning. Wednesday's showers are expected mainly west of I-45, with Houston's rain chance peaking near 30% in the morning and falling to 20% in the afternoon. Highs are forecast just above 80.

Forecasters said muggy air will bring warmer mornings and afternoons for the rest of October, with highs in the upper 80s by the weekend. Rain chances are forecast to drop to 10% on Thursday, then rise Friday and Saturday as another Pacific disturbance moves through the state. Friday's forecast calls for a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon. Forecasters said they do not expect a washout, and highs near 80 are forecast for trick-or-treat time.

Forecasters said a strong storm system may send a stormy cold front into Texas on Election Day, which could bring strong storms and gusty winds. They said it is too early to determine the exact timing, storm strength and impacts. Early voting runs through Friday. Forecasters are also monitoring the remnants of Pacific storm Vance, which could send moisture into West Texas Thursday night and Friday.
