Families across the Brazos Valley marked Halloween with several events on Saturday. The City of Bryan and Bryan High School hosted the annual "Trunk or Treat So Kids Can Eat", which drew about 3,000 people, according to the organizers. The event had more than 60 booths and seven vendors. Admission was five canned goods per person, and all donations go to the Brazos Valley Food Bank. City of Bryan Parks and Recreation Supervisor Emberly Smith said the food bank typically receives between 2,000 and 6,000 pounds of canned goods from the event. Smith said the trunk or treat has been held every year for the past nine years.

In downtown Bryan, the Clara B. Mounce Public Library held its annual Spooky Carnival for children ages five and under. Youth Service Librarian Jenny Stadler said the event has run for about seven years and lets young children take part in the holiday without being frightened. She said the activities help build motor skills, which she said affect literacy.

Organizers of both events said they plan to bring the festivities back to the Brazos Valley next year.
