The Wortham Lady Bulldogs are getting ready for district play, which is set to start next week. Head Coach Cheyenne Lansford said the team had a rocky start while it worked to find its best lineup, since many players are new to Varsity. She said the girls are working to find their rhythm.
Wortham will travel to Riesel before opening district play at home against CrossRoads. Lansford said she is excited for the competition and for the new district. She said teams in district play feel the pressure and importance of each game.
Asked about the district goal, Lansford said the team went undefeated and won the district title last year, so it has a lot to live up to. She said her goal is to compete as hard as possible and improve every game. She also thanked the community and parents for their support, and said the program will continue to improve because of that support and the administration.
