The Teague, Dew, Mexia and Wortham Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a grass and hay fire on FM 1366 on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The fire was caused by a burn ban violation. The call came in at 10:44 a.m.
As of 4 p.m., crews had been at the scene for more than five hours.
The Teague Volunteer Fire Department thanked Freestone County Precinct 4 for bringing a backhoe and Bryan Myers for bringing his tractor. "We greatly appreciate the assistance from everyone," the department said.
