Galveston City Council Member Jason Hardcastle was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after a two-vehicle crash on Seawall Boulevard, police said. No injuries were reported. Officers responded at about 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 30 to the 6800 block of Seawall Boulevard, according to the Galveston Police Department.

During the investigation, an officer observed signs of possible intoxication, police said. Police said Hardcastle declined to provide a breath sample, and officers obtained a warrant for a blood specimen. While the warrant was being carried out at a local hospital, Hardcastle allegedly physically resisted officers. He was charged with resisting arrest, search or transportation.

Hardcastle was booked into the Galveston County Jail on the DWI charge with a $1,000 bond and on the resisting charge with a $1,500 bond. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
