Kalynn Moran and her best friend, Kasey Davis, have launched The Project Yellow, a website that shares survivor stories and connects people with resources. The women said they have received messages from people in Florida, West Virginia and Australia asking how to leave an abusive relationship and where to find help.

Davis, who survived an assault by her husband, inspired a song called "Yellow." Moran wrote and recorded the song with her husband, Nate. It is about a safe word the two friends set up to signal when one of them needed help. They chose yellow because it was Davis's favorite color and because the word would be unlikely to draw suspicion.

When Davis used the word to ask for help, Moran knew what it meant. Davis said of the messages they have received from people in similar situations, "It's eye-opening, but it's also really sad."
