The National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington will host free Veterans Day events on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The museum, at 1861 AT&T Way, said it is opening its doors to veterans, military families and the North Texas community. Activities begin at 10 a.m. with an Arlington Symphony performance.
Guests can explore the museum, speak with Medal of Honor recipients, enjoy live music and write postcards to service members, museum officials said. The new I Am America exhibit connects the nation's 250th anniversary with the legacy of Medal of Honor recipients. The I Am Texas book, a Guinness World Records title holder for the largest published book, is also part of the exhibit.
A complimentary luncheon for veterans and active-duty service members runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Brady Hall and includes a fireside chat with Medal of Honor recipient Flo Groberg. Tickets must be reserved. A second fireside chat, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., features author Martha MacCallum, Medal of Honor recipient Patrick Brady, former Navy SEAL commander Mike Hayes and Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone. This event also requires reserved tickets.
After the afternoon chat, the City of Arlington Veterans Day parade will travel through the Arlington Entertainment District. Visitors are encouraged to stay for a drone show over Mark Holtz Lake.
