Dallas ISD is holding a school fair at Fair Park that focuses on digital learning. The district said it wants families to see how the next generation of learning is shaping education. School representatives will be at the Automobile Building on First Ave to help parents choose programs and enroll for the upcoming school year. Activities include video games, virtual reality goggles, robotics, farming and student performances.

The fair comes as the district considers closing six schools to deal with a $104 million budget shortfall. The proposed closures would take effect in the 2027-28 school year. Texas Gov.-elect Gina Hinojosa has pledged to increase school funding and prevent additional campus closures. A final decision is expected later this month.

District leaders blame inflation, declining enrollment and reduced state funding for the district's financial challenges.
