A jury in Lubbock sentenced Donald Clark, 52, to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Friday. Jurors convicted him of continuous sexual assault of a child for repeated assaults between 2017 and 2019. The jury also gave him 20 years on a second, lesser charge. Life without parole is the maximum punishment.

Clark's defense questioned the testimony and noted that seven years had passed since he was first charged. Prosecutors described Clark as a predator and asked the jury for the maximum sentence so he would not be released back into the community. The jury deliberated for 20 minutes before reaching its verdict.

Clark was first indicted on three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. He has been in jail since January 2020.
