A low pressure system west of Texas is expected to move south and southwest before slowly crossing the state, according to KBTX forecasters. The system follows a cold front that moved through the area to close out the work week. Showers are expected to come and go through the weekend, with the highest coverage from Saturday night through Sunday.

Forecasters said the rain is not expected to be heavy. Drier air near the surface should keep most showers light to moderate. Latest high-resolution data shows totals from a trace to 0.25 inches for those who see rain. Localized areas, especially along and west of Highway 6, could receive 0.5 inches or more.

Temperatures are expected to settle into the 60s by Sunday and Monday, with more clouds and rain chances. Sunshine is forecast to return next week. Forecasters advised people with outdoor plans Saturday, and especially Sunday, to check for timing and coverage updates.
