The Burnet High School varsity volleyball team won the bi-district title with a victory over Travis Early College on Oct. 29. The team then lost to Tivy High School on Tuesday, Nov. 3, in the area round of the playoffs, ending the season.
The Lady Dawgs finished with a program-best 32 wins. They won all 10 district matchups and dropped three sets in total. Head coach Crystal Shipley said Tivy had been highly favored and ranked in the Top 10 all season. She also said every varsity member, including managers, earned Academic All-District honors.
The freshman team finished 22-7 overall and 9-1 in district play to win the district championship. The junior varsity team went 19-9 overall and 8-2 in district, tying Marble Falls for first place to become district co-champions.
Shipley thanked the senior players and managers for their leadership and said their presence would be missed. "Once a Lady Dawg, always a Lady Dawg," she said.
