Democratic voters have cast more early ballots than Republicans in Kaufman County Precinct 2, which covers the Forney area and a small part of Heath, according to an analysis of county early voting rosters through Tuesday, Oct. 27. The analysis found 2,381 voters from the March Democratic primary had voted, compared with 1,547 from the March Republican primary, a gap of 834 votes. It also found 67 percent of Democratic primary voters had voted, compared with 57 percent of Republican primary voters.
The analysis said the margin has narrowed in recent years. In the 2024 primary, Republican ballots outnumbered Democratic ballots 3,195 to 1,104 in the precinct. In the March 2026 primary, Democratic ballots led 3,399 to 2,344. Down-ballot races in the precinct moved from about a 59-41 split in 2022 to a 56-44 margin in 2024. An October poll from the University of Houston Hobby School put the statewide U.S. Senate race within two points.
County Commissioner Skeet Phillips, a Republican, faces Democrat Shree Henderson. Justice of the Peace Amy Tarno, a Republican, faces Democrat Marcus Henderson. Both Phillips and Tarno ran unopposed in 2022. As of Tuesday night, 2,039 Republican primary voters in the precinct had not yet voted, compared with 1,411 Democratic primary voters, which the analysis said gives Republicans a 628-vote edge among remaining voters.
