Rey Hinojosa Olivas was arrested Oct. 14 on suspicion of continuous sexual abuse of a child, following an investigation by the Ector County Sheriff's Office, according to the Odessa American. He was released from the Ector County jail the next day after posting a $100,000 surety bond.

Jail records show Olivas was arrested again Oct. 18 on suspicion of indecency with a child. His bail is now set at $550,000. The new arrest adds a separate suspicion to the earlier charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child in a family violence case.

According to the sheriff's office, the investigation began Oct. 5 after a woman reported sexual abuse involving her son. Investigators said the offenses happened between July 19, 2016, and July 18, 2019, when the child was between 7 and 9 years old. During an interview, the child identified Olivas as the suspect. Investigators said the details provided established probable cause to believe he committed multiple acts of sexual abuse during that period.
