The Comal ISD Board of Trustees approved naming the new Life Bridges east campus after Dan Krueger at its Oct. 22 meeting. Krueger served on the board of trustees for 15 years and on the Comal Education Foundation board for 20 years. He said he was shocked by the decision and noted his earlier work with the Life Bridges program as a master gardener about 10 years ago.

The building sits next to Goodwin Frazier Elementary School in New Braunfels. It will house the district's Life Bridges Transition program, which serves young adults with disabilities ages 18 to 21 and has offered instructional pathways and community-based experiences since 2002. The building is set to open in spring 2027.

A Facility Naming Committee, which included Life Bridges representatives, reviewed names and recommended Krueger to the board. Comal ISD Executive Director of Special Education Michele Martella said the name honors his leadership and his relationships with people in the community.
