The city of New Braunfels will hold its annual Downtown Spooktacular on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the main plaza. The city says the event offers a trick-or-treating environment for local kids.

Treat stops will be run by several downtown businesses, the New Braunfels police and fire departments, the solid waste and recycling division, other city departments and community partners, according to the city's website. Non-candy, allergen-safe options will be available in teal pumpkin buckets.

Streets around the main plaza will be closed during the event, including San Antonio Street from Hill Street to North Liberty Avenue, and Seguin Avenue from Mill Street to West Coll Street. Free parking and shuttle service will be offered. Residents can park at City Hall, 550 Landa Street, and ride a shuttle to the event. Shuttles will run from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
