The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is hosting a community blood drive in Forney. The event runs Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church gymnasium at 8200 FM 741.

The American Red Cross will manage the collection. Organizers said demand for blood products is constant at hospitals in the area. Robin Zollinger, the blood drive coordinator, said residents can change someone's life by donating blood. Officials recommend scheduling an appointment in advance to reduce wait times.

Donors can register in three ways: online at redcrossblood.org, by calling 1-800-733-2767, or by scanning a QR code on event materials with a mobile device. Organizers hope for a strong turnout to keep local blood banks stocked heading into late autumn.
