CAIR Action, a political affiliate of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, has recommended hundreds of Texas candidates for the November 3 election. The Dallas Express said an October 22 review identified 369 positive Texas recommendations: 59 full endorsements, four joint endorsements and 306 preferred selections.
Asked by the Dallas Express to release its candidate questionnaires, evaluation criteria and Texas operating budget, the group said in written answers that it does not release internal questionnaires, evaluation materials or individual candidate responses. CAIR Action said its evaluation can include questionnaires and conversations with candidates, but it did not say which Texas candidates took part. It said CAIR does not endorse candidates and has no input into the voter guide.
Gov. Greg Abbott designated CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood as foreign terrorist and transnational criminal organizations under Texas law on November 18, 2025, according to his proclamation. CAIR denies supporting terrorism and has challenged the designation.
