Plans have been finalized for a remodel and expansion of the Walmart at 802 E. US Highway 80 in Forney. The estimated investment is $1.8 million. The Wal-Mart Real Estate Business Trust is leading the project, which includes interior and exterior improvements to the existing 186,715-square-foot store.
The project will remodel about 7,783 square feet of current space and add a 9,860-square-foot expansion. According to the project announcement, the work is expected to support construction jobs in spring and summer 2027, and the store will continue to employ staff after the work is done.
Construction is scheduled to begin April 11, 2027, with completion expected July 29, 2027. The source said city officials and developers are expected to coordinate on traffic management during the three-month construction period, and drivers on the US Highway 80 corridor may face added construction traffic.
