The Wellman-Union Wildcats were named KCBD's End Zone Team of the Week after finishing the regular season with a 73-56 win. The victory gave the Wildcats their first district championship since the 2005 season.
KCBD said the season has brought other milestones for the team. Wellman-Union had its first winning season since 2017 and won more games this season than it did in the previous five seasons combined.
The Wildcats returned five starters from last year's team. The team is now preparing for the postseason. Wellman-Union has a bye week next week and will learn its playoff opponent after that. The playoffs are set to begin in a couple of weeks.
