The forecast says Monday will be windy across West Texas, with gusts of 30 to 40-plus mph. A High Wind Warning is in effect for the Guadalupe Mountains, where gusts could reach 60-plus mph. The forecast says winds that strong can make travel hazardous, blow around loose objects, raise dust and cause turbulence, and it advises avoiding the area during the day Monday.

A cold front is expected to move through the region around midday Monday. The forecast gives a slight chance of one or two strong-to-severe storms, mainly in the far eastern Permian Basin and the lower Trans-Pecos, with possible damaging winds, large hail and a brief tornado. Otherwise, Monday should be sunny and warmer, with highs in the upper 70s.

The rest of next week is expected to be cooler and drier behind the front, with highs in the mid-60s to lower 70s and lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s. The forecast calls for plenty of sunshine. Another, stronger front could arrive by next weekend, with a slight chance of rain.
