On Friday, Oct. 30, a group of antique tractor owners from several Texas clubs left Winnsboro City Park on a scenic trail ride toward Ma's Cafe in Leesburg. The convoy included 10 tractors and a covered wagon-style trailer that carried passengers.

The outing was organized on short notice, less than a week before the ride, and was held only for the fun of driving vintage tractors. It was not an official event of the Lake Country Antique Tractor Association, though many participants belonged to that group. Mike Banks said, "It wasn't for any special purpose. We just decided it was time to have some fun."

Gordon McCosh drove a 1963 John Deere 3010 diesel from Rockwall. Richard Williams brought a restored 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee, which he said has three transmissions and 12 forward gears. Phill and Sandy Hallman's 1965 Allis-Chalmers D-17, which runs on propane, also made the trip. Along the route, drivers waved at passing motorists, and some drivers slowed to watch.
