Quitman defeated Lone Oak 27-13 in a football game. The Bulldogs' win gives them a path to a playoff spot for the first time in more than a decade.
Freshman kicker Bradie Fortner made field goals of 22 and 23 yards in the first half, and Quitman led 13-7 at halftime. Lone Oak scored early in the third quarter but missed the extra point, leaving the game tied 13-13 going into the final quarter. Quitman then pulled ahead on short runs, with Brandon Samaniego scoring twice and Ben Boisclair once. Fortner made all five of his kicks.
Quitman ran 65 plays to Lone Oak's 37 and finished with 323 rushing yards. Samaniego had 101 yards on 11 carries. Head coach Shane Webber said the win keeps the team's playoff hopes alive, after a loss the previous week to Prairieland.
