Kilgore College held a Veterans Day ceremony a week early. College officials spoke to students and staff and honored veterans for their service.
The college named retired Army Master Sergeant Joseph Rhodes III this year's Veterans Hero. Rhodes spent 28 years in the Army before retiring in 2012.
Rhodes said he was honored to be recognized by the school and the student body. He said the college is aware of veterans in the community and makes them feel welcome. Rhodes is also a Kilgore College student taking automotive repair classes.
