The Dallas Express reported that an October survey of downtown Dallas counted 19 people, the fourth-lowest count in the report's historical table. The count was down from 22 in September and 30 in October 2025. Eight of the 19 people were in two sectors next to The Bridge homeless shelter. The survey measures people seen during the count and does not estimate the citywide homeless population.

According to the report, which cites the city's Crime Analytics Dashboard, October offenses in the central business district fell from 333 to 240, a 28% drop. Violent crimes fell 19%, and thefts from vehicles dropped from 76 to 39. Crimes against society rose 29% for the year to date. Downtown Dallas Inc. President and CEO Jennifer Scripps said on September 30 that 130 officers were assigned and approved downtown.

The report also lists 29 October offenses in downtown Fort Worth. These are raw counts, not population-adjusted rates. The Dallas comparison area is 1.40 square miles and the Fort Worth area is 0.92 square miles. The report excludes some offense categories and estimates some Fort Worth sex-crime figures.
