A metal strap bracket came off an 18-wheeler on Interstate 69 near Roman Forest Drive in Montgomery County on Friday morning, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said. The sheriff's office received reports of the crash around 9:03 a.m. East Montgomery County Fire Department firefighters found the bracket lodged inside a Dodge Journey.

The driver, Don Scott of Cleveland, Texas, said his 2-year-old son was in a child safety seat behind the driver's seat. According to the report, the bracket went through the passenger side of the windshield, broke the front passenger headrest, struck the rear child car seat and damaged a rear window and a pillar.

Neither Scott nor his son was injured. Scott said he was thankful they made it. He drove the SUV to the Woodbranch Police Department parking lot, where officers documented the incident. Saddle Creek Towing later took the vehicle to Cleveland.

Investigators have not identified the truck the bracket came from. Anyone with information or dashboard camera footage from the area during the Friday morning commute is asked to contact local law enforcement.
