Houston police are searching for a 35-year-old man they say shot his girlfriend twice outside an apartment complex on Friday night in southwest Houston. The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. on Stella Link Road.
Officers said the 39-year-old woman was visiting the suspect's family and had been on the phone with the man before the shooting. Police said he came to pick her up, and the two met in the complex's courtyard. Officers said he shot her in the abdomen and in the leg, then pushed her down and walked away.
The suspect's family gave the woman first aid before emergency crews arrived. She was taken to an area hospital and is expected to recover. Police found the man's vehicle abandoned a few blocks away. Officers have not located the man and are patrolling the area. The reason for the shooting is unknown, and the suspect's name has not been released.
