Harris County Constable Precinct 1 deputies were called around 1:30 a.m. to a shooting at a home on Westbank Avenue, between Fairbanks North Houston Road and North Houston Rosslyn Road, Sgt. Jason Brown of the Harris County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies found a 37-year-old man dead inside with gunshot wounds.

Deputies learned the man had been in an altercation with his 17-year-old son. Authorities said the teen got a pistol during the fight and shot his father. Officials said the teen left the home after the shooting. Deputies searched the immediate area but have not found him.

The mother and two juvenile siblings were inside the home at the time. No one else was hurt. Brown said the father and son often had disputes and that this was an ongoing argument. Authorities want to hear the teen's account and have not decided whether criminal charges will be filed. It is not yet clear what specific dispute led to the shooting.
