The Graham Steers have secured a playoff berth for an 18th straight season. The team, ranked No. 8 in the state in Class 4A Division II, was 8-0 overall and 3-0 in district at press time. The Steers host Iowa Park (3-5, 0-3 in district) to close the regular season this week.
Head coach Clay McChristian said the team is "right where we wanted to be" at this point of the season. He said the Steers need another good week of practice. Graham beat Burkburnett 70-0 on Oct. 23, the third time this season the team has scored more than 60 points.
The bi-district playoffs begin Nov. 12-14. The Graham Lady Blues (23-18, 5-5 in District 6-4A) ended the regular season with a 3-2 home loss to Glen Rose on Oct. 23. The result left Graham tied for third place in district with Glen Rose, and both teams advance to the postseason.
