The Rusk Eagles defeated the Brownsboro Bears 44-14 on Friday night at Jim Swink Field at Eagle Stadium in Rusk. Both teams were seeking their first district win after playing non-district schedules.
The game was described as competitive, hard-hitting and marked by personal fouls. Rusk led 13-7 after the first quarter. Eagles running back Kicerian Teague scored on an eight-yard run and later on a three-yard run. Bears player Sir Arnold caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Lane Irwin.
Bears head coach Ryan Hood said his team gave everything it had, but that Rusk was ready to play. He said the first half was close. Hood said the Bears want to give their seniors a memorable final game on their home field next week.
