Save Lubbock submitted two new petitions to the City Secretary on Friday, according to KCBD. The petitions target Flock cameras and the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance.
The first petition asks the City Council to ban the purchase, installation, operation and use of Flock cameras, including automated license plate readers and other vehicle-tracking systems. It also asks the city to end its contracts, remove the equipment, delete any stored data and permanently bar the systems in Lubbock.
The second petition calls for more transparency, public notice and accountability from the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance. It would require public review and voter approval before any new Type-B economic development corporation is created or authorized.
The City Secretary's Office must verify that all signatures on both petitions are legitimate before the petitions go to the City Council.
