A former Lubbock nurse was found guilty Friday morning of reckless bodily injury that led to the death of a four-month-old, according to KCBD.

Debra Fraher, 71, is a former licensed vocational nurse. She was charged with reckless bodily injury to a disabled child. In January 2023, she was caring for the infant, who had special needs and required a ventilator. Prosecutors said the baby had a respiratory emergency while Fraher was changing her diaper. Investigators said Fraher ignored ventilator alarms and did not provide medical care. The baby was taken to a hospital and died eight days later.

Fraher will be sentenced by Judge Douglas Freitag. She faces up to 20 years in prison.
