Skillpoint Alliance and Howard College held a graduation Friday, Oct. 30, for the first class to complete their new electrical pre-apprenticeship training program, according to the report.

The free, four-week, full-time program began Oct. 5. It was designed to give students foundational skills for careers in the electrical trades. The graduation is the first for the partnership between the two groups.

The milestone follows a Sept. 10 ribbon cutting at Howard College, which marked the reopening of classrooms for skilled trades training. Howard College said the partnership shows its commitment to preparing students for in-demand careers and meeting workforce needs across the Permian Basin.

Skillpoint Alliance is a 501(c)(3) workforce development organization founded in 1994. It offers no-cost training in electrical, plumbing, HVAC and manufacturing, and has expanded its programs throughout the Permian Basin. The organization and Howard College said they plan to build on this momentum and serve more students.
