Nathan Rodriguez, 30, is a Victoria native and a 2014 graduate of Victoria West High. He specializes in mural and window paintings, according to the Victoria Advocate.
In 2022, Rodriguez worked with friend Josh Vega of Free Art Victoria on decorative crosswalk murals downtown and near DeLeon Plaza. He started in March and finished that summer. The Crosswalk Project was coordinated by Keisha Smith, the city of Victoria's special projects manager. Smith also asked Rodriguez to paint decorative Christmas windows in the city for the holiday season.
Rodriguez works full time as a freelance artist taking commissions from individuals, mostly through word of mouth. "I guess you could say I'm a very busy art nerd. I'm never one to turn down work," he said. He said he began drawing as a young child, using paused DVD movie images as references, and got more serious around age 15. He also said many of his classmates were more talented than he was and that he is sorry many of them no longer make art.
