The Weimar Ladycats, co-champions of District 27-2A D1, won their bi-district playoff opener Thursday night in Victoria. They defeated the Yorktown Wildcats 25-14, 25-23, 25-10 at St. Joseph High. Weimar finished the regular season at 24-17 overall and 11-1 in district play.

Weimar took an early lead in the first set and held on to win it. The second set was close throughout, with the score tied 23-23 late. A kill by junior Ramsey Tolbert gave Weimar a set point, and a Weimar sophomore, Locklyn Tolbert, won a long rally on the next point that put Weimar up 2-0. Weimar head coach Merina Horton said Ramsey Tolbert leads the team in kills this season.

In the third set, Weimar scored 17 of the first 18 points. A kill by Yorktown senior Gracie Stehling ended that run. Horton said the players worked hard and wanted the win.
