Seniors John Rangel and Suhaib Ramseur are the receivers for Ridge Point High School in Missouri City. Rangel is eighth in receiving yards in the Houston area with 10 touchdowns this season. Ramseur is close behind his teammate in receiving yards, with 11 touchdowns.
Head coach Rick LaFavers said Rangel is one of the best athletes on campus. He also plays baseball and takes AP courses, LaFavers said, and he is a straight-A student. Rangel said the players want to honor earlier Panthers receivers, and he said the group is walking on the shoulders of giants.
The two players could break the school's career receiving yards record, which is held by former TCU receiver Dane Jones. Ramseur said he would be happy for his teammate if Rangel breaks it, and Rangel said the same. Rangel said the team's main goal this season is to win a championship. LaFavers said the team is focused on one game at a time as the playoffs approach.
