Vice President JD Vance said Texas would have surrendered if voters do not elect Ken Paxton to the U.S. Senate on Nov. 3. He spoke Thursday at a Republican campaign rally in Weatherford, held at JRJ Construction. Vance and about a dozen other Republicans addressed the crowd, which the report estimated at about 3,000 people.

Speakers urged conservative voters to go to the polls and vote for the full Republican ticket. Comptroller Don Huffines said this was the only way to keep the "demon party" out of Texas. Most speakers were Republican candidates, including Huffines, Attorney General candidate Mayes Middleton, and congressional candidates Craig Goldman and Brandon Gill.

The rally lasted about three hours. The U.S. Senate race between Paxton, the current Texas attorney general, and Democratic state Rep. James Talarico was a main focus. Vance said Paxton is "obsessed" with fighting for the Texas way of life.
