The Patriot Warriors of Valor, a local nonprofit that links many area veterans groups, will host a Veterans Day parade and luncheon in downtown Edna on Saturday, Nov. 7. The group said active-duty and former personnel from each branch of the military will take part. The event comes before the U.S. Marine Corps birthday on Tuesday, Nov. 10, and Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Several school and local programs are planned for Nov. 11.
Organizers said in early summer that every branch of the military had committed to sending a contingent, including active-duty personnel and equipment. Several area veterans groups also plan to take part. The city will close Highway 111 and Main Street for the event. Veterans riding in the limousine should line up at the county Service Center, 211 N. Wells, by 9:45 a.m. Parade lineup begins at 10 a.m., and the parade starts at 10:30 a.m.
A luncheon will be served at the Service Center auditorium starting at 11:30 a.m. All veterans, active-duty military and first responders eat free. Tickets for others are $25 at the door.
